The increase in stray dog population creates man-animal conflict and the most important aspect is avoiding the spread of rabies, one of the most deadly diseases transferred from dogs to human beings. As per World Health Organization (WHO) study in India the human death caused by dog bite is highest in the World and this is due to increasing stray dog population. If people would just adopt an Indian dog instead of a pedigreed dog there would be no stray dogs which could mitigate the man-animal conflict and as well create a loving home for a stray. There is a study that shows that if one person out of fifty provides a home to a stray dog there will no strays. “The Stray Dog Adoption Campaign” program organized by PFA Bhubaneswar aimed to achieve the highest number of adoptions possible.
